Halfway there with Clapotis. I highly recommend knitting one of these, because every ten minutes or so, there's an 'event" when you can stop what you're doing, and rip a row of stitches.
It's cathartic.
It's like pumping your fist in the air at a hockey game.
It's like riding on the back of a motorcycle without a helmet.
It's like rubbing wedding cake in your husband's face.
It's like dipping your hair in the tie-dye bath.
It's like putting the pancake batter ladle directly on the counter between batches.
It's like making rooster faces out of the shampoo suds in your kid's hair.
Okay, so my forms of rebellion have become somewhat less Angelina Jolie and more Jane Kaczmarek as the years have gone by. I connect with my former fist-pumping-helmet-shirking-tatoo-considering self whenever I can, but in ways that don't interfere with my kid getting into the right pre-school. You know what I mean? Which is why knitting this scarf is so important to me. It's living life, man; or something like it.

It's like wearing stripes with plaid? White after Labor Day? Tromping through a fountain?

Got a little carried away there. Forgot to mention how beautiful Clapotis is!

I love it! can't wait to see it in person.
i'll bet your really have that bad-ass tattoo, a big harley insignia on your back, right? I've been considering it. But I will always wear a helmet. I'm a tad nervous on the bike as it is. It makes Pete happy though. I really want to see that scarf.

It's like . . . wearing a G-string when everyone else thinks you're in Jockey? I like Clapotis much better in Koigu. Rip it, rip it good!

I totally changed my mind on my yarn. I'm using a undyed chocolate superfine alpaca. If I can get a good shot, I'll add a picture to my site. It is so soft. I really like it. I might need to follow the "stole" directions instead of the "scarf" directions just to make it wide enough. I'm only into the 4th repeat on the increase section, so I'm not sure how wide it will be with this thin yarn. This is a great pattern. I can't wait to get to the drop stitches.

That is beautiful!!! I cannot wait until my yarn gets here!!!! I am so anxious to start this project!!!!

I decided to use some of my stash yarn in a rough, bell-spun silk to knit the lovely clapotis. I'm also knitting it narrower than is called for, because I'm afraid of running out of yarn. I think I will use Koigu for my second. Yes...Second. I'm planning ahead. The ripping is wonderful. It satisfies my instant gratification urges in a way that most "big" knitting can't even touch. Love, love, love.

Clapotis is gorgeous! You have done a fantastic job.....and if we weren't just heading into a hot Australian summer I would be so tempted to start one myself. However, I need a scarf at the moment like I need a hole in the head so that project may just need to wait until next year.

I'm trying to finish some other projects before I start Clapotis. Stop tempting me! I need to unpack! You're knitting so fast...

OK, OK, you've convinced me! Sign me up. I just ordered a beautiful DK alpaca from Mystical Creations Yarns, which has to be dyed, so I can start in about a week. Yours is gorgeous!

Sigh, I'm Clapotis-less. Perhaps soon, but I'm a bit intimidated by all the lovely Clapoti already out there...
