I admit, I am an avid knitter of complicated things. I love cables. I love lace. But I also love the simple pleasure of stockinette, the kind of knitting that I can (lucky girl I know) knit in the dark of a movie house, or while reading a book open on my lap. This is my stockinette project at the moment:
It's an out-there version of Joelle Hoverson's Hourglass Sweater, inspired by the creative genius Jill at Yarns in the Farms. It has been languishing in the stash for so long that it predates my weight loss, so I have to make it a whole size smaller, and thought it would be equally lovely as an a-line torso, so I just kept up the decreases until I hit the next size down just shy of the bind off for the arms. I don't mind pooling, just so that you know.
The yarn is Blue Heron Cotton Rayon Seed in Kelp. It has an interesting texture that takes a little getting used to as I knit, but makes an interesting fabric. I like it on the knit side
but I really love it on the purl side
because you can see all the little seeded bits nicely against the stitches. I think I will wear it this side out when it's done. I don't know when this will be done because I have several compelling projects going on in the foreground at the moment, which I will share soon enough. But for now, it's nice to knit in the dark.

The purl side really looks good.

I agree with you on loving the texture of the "wrong" side. Would you construct it right-side and wear it inside out, or reverse the construction so the wrong side becomes the right side and stitch it up that way? Beautiful colors, too.

I love stockinette!! it's the perfect knit group project because it's mindless... love the way that is coming out!

Just to be contrary, I think it has worms.

Purl side in that yarn is always my favourite.
