Question: What's better than Yarn mail?
Yarn Mail from Finland!
Even better?
A mitten kit from Leena, for these:
Willow Herb mittens, in Finn wool, dyed by hand with things in the woods like mushrooms, roots, and whatnot. Lots of whatnot. The woman is a Shaman with the roots and berries and the colour. She makes me believe in fairies. Her blog (which I cannot pronounce) is a mystic cookbook of such things, and now I own some of her work. I am not ready to cast on. I must purify myself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka* first, or at least complete one of the other things I have on the needles. But I am excited.
*Purple Rain reference anyone?
That is one spectacular mail drop!

Great mail delivery! I happen to have the exact same kit at home. My family did a cruise of the Baltic Sea last year and I was in Helsinki and bought that kit at the open air market. I also bought yarns to match so that I can make a hat and scarf to go with it. I haven't gotten to it yet, but your post was a great reminder that I should pull it out. I love the link too, as I had never been to her blog. Thanks!

I have a very similar kit that my Mom gace me a few years ago... Time to make that.

Oh my. Very pretty. (And it never fails to amuse me when people find Finnish hard to pronounce. Way easier than, say, French, in my extremely biased opinion.)

Julia, those are FABULOUS. I covet them! Very Poetry in Stitches. They would match my new coat perfectly! ;-)
I clicked on the link, and WOW. Thanks so much for the tip-off! I am going to let Santa know about these. ;-)

Beautiful! I love how the leaves on the lower half are almost but not quite symmetrical.

Exotic, far flung, organic and beautiful!

You really know how to make a girl jealous, eh?!! Beautiful it and I certainly can't blame you for wanting to get started on that kit.

oooh, those sorta look like that sweater you've been knitting and are SO much better than the wristers they showed with it . . . (sorry, names for everything evade me ...)

What lovely, subntle, nature-infused colors and yarn texture. I really need to break down and knit some mittens.

I totally have been wanting some, I too dye with mushrooms and have been dyeing to see her yarn! In the fiber anyhow.
