I've been working on a little something for my son, who at 11 may be at that age when he is likely at any moment to cross over the fence that divides the "I totally love this" from the "I'm way too cool for that".
So this is my last chance for something like this:
I'm putting in the zipper today:
Yes, those are blocking wires. I'm using Caro's brilliant zipper tutorial. Have you seen it yet? Leave it to a native quilter to teach us knitters how to sew.
I ADORE this!!

I'll borrow the blocking wires idea to hold my chain straight, but I sew a crocheted chain to the zipper tape, then whip the chain to the sweater. I just don't like sewing thread in the knitted fabric....I'd rather have it on the crocheted chain. I really like the method of putting yarn loops through the zipper tape, but poking with the knitpicker takes too long.

So that's what the teaser was - I guess he's moved past the dinosaur stage.
Gonna check that zipper tutorial, although I have succumbed to the skills of the "fixer," Helene, in Hamilton. She does a perfect job with zippers.

That is wonderful. Knit those cute things while you can, my older son (14) is too cool for sweaters at the moment.

I somewhat agree, but some matters should be done a bit differently.
